DON'T MISS Episode 37 - 2022 Giant Gear Issue Series - Duck & Goose Calls with George Lynch of Legendary Gear

If there was ever a ‘one call does it all’ call, it would definitely be the Nose Dive. It's double reed design has full range of duck that would work for the beginner to the expert caller. The Nose Dive is machined with the tightest of tolerances to ensure perfect quality, and each call is personally hand-tuned by George Lynch who has over 20 years of experience in call designing and tuning to guarantee the highest quality.

If the name of a call can be significant, Echo’s Pure Meat duck call speaks volumes. Designed for duck-killers, the Pure Meat was designed to be a do-all duck call designed by hunters for hunters. From Cajun squeals to bouncing hens, the Pure Meat can produce the full vocabulary of a flock including high-pitched hails and those barely audible sounds that close ducks covet. It is available in wood, acrylic, and hybrid combinations and, if you don’t see what you want, check out the call builder for truly custom options! Oh, and don’t forget to check out Echo’s website. They are introducing not one, but TWO new calls in 2022 that were getting their final tweaks prior sending this to press. If Echo’s history is the reference, these new calls will surely be duck-pleasers.

Price isn’t the only indicator of awesome, and the Duck Commander Flash proves that statement correct. Singing a smooth, silky tone that the greenheads can’t resist, the Flash can go from soft to loud in well, a flash! It utilizes Jase’s Pro series modified reed system to resist sticking like the water rolling off a duck’s back and has a double-reed design that uses the air pressure of most single reeds.

The original duck call from Last Flight Calls, The Illusion was designed to lay-down those gnarly beats that the drakes can’t resist. Available as a single reed only, The Illusion is as loud as you would ever want in a hunting situation. While it can get loud, don’t overlook that it can still get quiet when you need to finish ducks close. The bore on this call is bigger than the Last Flight Imposter, and requires a little more air, but gives you the range you want to get the attention of those distant birds. The Illusion call is ideal for a wide range of end-users, but really excels for hunters who frequent more open marsh units, rice fields, and reservoirs. It is available in a wide range of acrylic color combinations.

The newest addition to the 737 Duck Calls line, the Tomahawk is ready to cut them down. (Bad pun intended). A cutdown style call, the Tomahawk incorporates classic style and combines it with modern technology to make a true masterpiece. This call can get down and dirty when you need it, but also work those high-flyers in a pinch. It is easy to use, feels great in hand, and is a must have on any  lanyard. It is available in a wide variety of color combinations to match anyone’s personality and can be personalized with text or a logo to make it special. So, if you are in need of a custom groomsmen, graduation, or birthday gift, give them something they need, not another coffee mug.

The Murder 2.0 is the latest, most advanced call design from Elite Duck Calls. Small in stature, but don't let its small size fool you! This call combines a high volume raspy top end with a natural, whiny low end hen mallard sound that ducks can't resist. The Murder 2.0 features an engineered spit grooves in the tone board to combat moisture lock, ensuring that you are never left dead on the water when things get hot. While the Murder 2.0 is a single reed, for double reed lovers, check out her pretty sister the Double Murder to quench your thirst. All Elite calls are available in a wide array of classy color combinations and guaranteed to find the number one slot on your lanyard. If you haven’t checked them out before, what are you waiting for?

A short board, J-Frame style duck call, Molt Gear’s Ol’ River Man duck call comes complete with all the hens. From high to low, fast to slow, and with the power of the softest hen, this call is everything from first year hen to that raspy old lady all-in-one. The Molt gear crew spent three years developing this call to perfection, and already has accolades as the winner of the 2021 World Live Duck Championship. While it has clearly been able to convince judges on the stage, it also does the same in the field, marsh, or, of course, on the river. It is currently available in five different appetizing color combinations. The Ol’ River man is just one of many calls in Molt Gear's line, that consists of a lanyard full of deadly calls.

The Megaphor was specifically designed to break down high ducks and finish them in the dekes. It has mega rattle on both bottom and top with extreme control and mega rasp with a whisper-quiet bottom end, the definition of Megaphor. It was engineered with a machined J-Duct Moisture Reduction System that prevents the reed from sticking to the tone board. It also features a molded wedge, which provides a tune-free system. Better yet, this call has a medium hold, with built in back pressure making it suitable for both novice and advanced callers alike. It is available in four different color configurations and is a must-have on any lanyard. Simply put, if you are looking for a single-reed duck call with aggressive punch for the timber and open water, the Megaphor is for you.

A J-frame acrylic duck call that is tuned with the hunter in mind. The H2CC is offered in both single and double reed configurations, buyer’s choice, and features a small exhaust hole to allow easy control while producing a great natural tone and the infamous Cajun Cutter squeals. Tuned on the finesse side, the H2CC is perfect for times when you need to bend those notes to entice those call-shy birds. The H2CC Cajun Cutter is just one call in Haydel’s extensive H2 Waterfowl Series. This series includes both duck and goose calls in many different combinations and configurations that are perfect to fill-out an entire lanyard. From mallard to divers and Canada goose to speck, Haydel’s Game Calls has a call for every hunter.

Rich-N-Tone’s original Daisy Cutter duck call, simply put, is a classic that likely every waterfowl hunter surely knows by name. The Daisy Cutter Xtreme, or DCX for short, is simply a higher-octane version of its predecessor that is still capable of producing those sweet hen sounds that gets the mallard drakes drooling. By modifying the original Daisy Cutter’s design, RNT slightly turned up the volume and enhanced its aggressive nature while maintaining a perfect balance of backpressure all while pushing the calls rasp to an Xtreme jaw jarring new level. If you like raspy, this one has enough rasp for you, your neighbor, and the guy two streets over! It is available in both acrylic and cocobolo or grandillo wood versions, all sure to sweet-talk those greenheads into range.

The LT Hand Cut is a full range duck call built on the Ducklander small barrel platform. Using this small barrel platform, the call is very responsive yet powerful, and extremely realistic on the bottom end making it perfect for working birds in tight. Duck-worthy features include fully checkered inserts to improve hand positioning and grip, quad air grooves on the tone board to prevent reed sticking, and a laser cut reed system. Ducklander’s reed kits allow hunters of any skill level to custom tune their call without ever cutting a reed. All reeds are precut to graduated lengths with up to eight sizes in each kit. The reeds are engraved with size and style for easy identification and have an alignment tang to center the reed.

Let’s be honest; you’re never going to stop at just one duck call. That said, if you’re some kind of crazy, the Drake Slayer Double-Reed acrylic duck call would be the one you’d take home. This call has sensational tone, from the high end all the way to the bottom, that grows with you as a caller. I’m not kidding when I say anyone can sound super ducky with this call. The double-reed construction and acrylic soundboard make the Drake Slayer a cinch for new callers to learn while the experienced duck callers value the control and sophistication. With its gorgeous acrylic barrel, the Drake Slayer is ready to go wherever adventure takes you. If you haven’t checked out Slayer’s truly functional works of art, now is the time to check out their website to see what they are missing.

Made from a molded Polycarbonate/Acrylic blend and colored stealth black, the Ignition duck call by Power Calls is as stylish as it is effective. Using a cut-down design and incorporating a keyhole insert, the Ignition is designed to produce aggressive barks and loud chatters with ease. Using built-in back pressure, this call was designed to be easy-to-blow and offers great finesse calling when the birds get in tight. If you are looking for a do-it-all call, the Ignition can do everything from breaking down ducks to setting them on the water, and whatever you need in-between. In addition to the Ignition, Power Calls has a full line of duck and goose calls built for the waterfowler hunter, including both speck and snow goose.
