Launched 30 years ago, Boston Whaler's Dauntless line is designed to offer owners a wide range of activities. After the renewal of the 220 and 250, the range is enriched by the 280 Dauntless, which replaces the 270. This new model is designed for cruising, fishing, water sports or simply relaxing.

Several engine options, in single or twin Mercury engines, are offered by the manufacturer, from 350 horsepower to a maximum of 600 horsepower. The dual 250 or 300 horsepower configuration is available as an option with a joystick. The engines are available in white or black.

The wide bathing platforms make boarding and disembarking easy, as well as swimming, as the starboard platform is equipped with a handrail and a bathing ladder. Access to the cockpit is via a starboard side passage. At the stern, there is a large 72-liter livewell and a folding bench seat for 2 people to free up the cockpit. The latter offers in its upper part a storage compartment and in its lower part an access to the mechanical elements such as pumps, batteries, sea water tapsâeuros¦

The leaning post has a galley set with sink, cup holders, rod holders and storage bin. An optional gyro stabilizer or an additional large livewell can be installed.

As standard, the 280 Dauntless has a convertible helm seat. So, when anchored, the seats turn around to face the cockpit to create a friendly square or a lookout for fishing or swimming. Both seats are equipped with armrests and flip-up seats for steering. On the other side, an opening in the bulwark transforms into a platform on the water with a swim ladder.

The cockpit is equipped with a stainless steel steering wheel, cup holders, engine controls, optional joystick and trim controls. The electronics package includes a 16" Simrad screen that allows you to control, in addition to the standard buttons, the onboard systems. A Simard VHF, as well as an induction charging station, USB sockets and a storage compartment, complete the dashboard. The audio system includes 8 speakers evenly distributed throughout the boat.

Several windshield options are available. A half acrylic windshield is installed as standard. As an option, a full glass windshield with an upper front opening allows for protected sailing and airflow. A rigid fiberglass hard top is equipped with 4 rod holders and a water sports attachment point, and can offer an optional electric sail guard, complete with supports to extend shade to the cockpit. The 280 Dauntless can be equipped with optional outriggers for sea fishing.

Inside the console, whose entrance has been enlarged, are installed as standard marine toilets, which can be replaced by an optional electric model.

The front deck adopts a 2-person console seat with removable backrest and armrests and a nice length for leg extension. Underneath is a very large storage area. Two side benches can be transformed into a chaise longue facing the sea thanks to the removable backrests. A fish box in the floor can also be used as a fish tank thanks to the seawater pump. Finally, the storage boxes on the side seats can be transformed into a cooler. The table is easily installed in the middle of the bow and can be lowered to create a large sundeck.
