Our Savior’s Lutheran School will have a bake sale today, from 9:00 a.m. to noon as part of the King of Trails weekend.  The sale will be set up on the front sidewalk in front of S. Broadway. Come check out their delicious cookies, rolls, breads, and more!

The Crookston High School Marching Band will be performing in the UND Potato Bowl today, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The Crookston Eagles will have Bar BINGO with a $400 must-go final blackout today, at 3:00 p.m.

The Benedictine Living Community in Crookston is holding a Golf Glow Ball Tournament Fundraiser today, at the Minakwa Golf Course. Registration is from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. with the Shotgun Start of the first nine holes at 4:00 p.m. Supper will be served along with raffle drawings, and awards. There will be a “Celebration of Life” in memory of Steve Matzke today from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at The Crookston Eagles Club. It is open to the public and musician friends of Steve will play and stories will be shared.

The Trinity Lutheran Church will have Rally Sunday on Sunday, September 11. It will begin with worship at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Pancake Feed in the Fellowship Hall from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. with a carnival going on in the parking lot. Come down to enjoy food, games, activities, prizes, and fellowship. The Church will also be holding a School Supply Drive at this time, to learn more about the Rally and what you can bring for the Drive, you can go to the Church’s website at www.trinitycrookston.org/ for more details.

The Red River Valley Sugarbeet Museum will have their Harvest Festival, honoring the memory of Paul Dragseth, on Sunday, September 11 starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Red River Valley Sugarbeet Museum. They will be harvesting sugarbeets with vintage equipment at 11:00, combining grain with a 1940 five-foot combine, and a tractor pull at noon. Free admission. A free bus will run between the Polk County and SugarBeet Museums. A food truck will be on site.

Pioneer Day will be held at the Polk County Museum on Sunday, September 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event opens with lunch being served, including pie. Exhibits, tours, and demonstrations will happen throughout the day, such as Double The Trouble, and Alex Conwell playing in the Centennial Building at 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. respectively, and the Ross Sutter Musicians playing in the Hafslo Church at 3:15 p.m. Free wagon rides will also be offered by Point Paradise Stables from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. There will also be blacksmithing demonstrations by Randy Oberg, a display of “Hit & Miss” Engines, and Spinning Wheel Demonstrations. There will be a free bus running between the Polk County Historical Society Museum and the Sugarbeet Museum.

The Crookston Home Delivered Meals will be delivered by the American Legion on the week of September 12-16.

The Crookston Care & Share is holding its winter coat/clothing giveaway every day this week from Monday, September 12 to Friday, September 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is currently accepting donations for them. Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston will “Celebrate George!” on Sunday, September 18 during the 9:00 worship service.  They will be celebrating and thanking George French for forty years as church organist and pianist at Trinity Lutheran Church. A reception in George’s honor will be held in the fellowship hall following worship where cake and coffee will be served. A basket for cards will be available to express your own personal thanks for George’s music, leadership, friendship, and faith.

The Crookston Blue Line Club is offering a free event called Give Hockey A Shot! on Sunday, September 18, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for children between the ages of 3 and 18. All equipment, skates, and sticks will be provided by the club, and there will be arena tours, an info booth, games, on-ice helpers, and a meet & greet with coaches. RiverView Health in partnership with the Crookston Police Department and Nimens Espegard is set to host a “Ask A Pharmacist” Q&A paired with a Medication Take Back Event. Shelby Knott, RiverView’s Pharmacist, will talk about your medicine, suggest ways to help you take your medicine, talk about medication safety, and offer a Q&A Session. The Crookston Police Department will also be available to collect medications for proper disposal. The free event is set for Tuesday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Nimens Espegard Community Room. Signs will be posted around RiverView.

Youth must attend a mandatory orientation session that happens on Sunday, October 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Twig and Branch Collection will be held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, running from May through October. Place the materials on your curbside. Branches must be cut into four-foot lengths and bundled in order for the crews to take them away. Any branches or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away. Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall to schedule a pickup.

Second booster doses of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are now available at Altru Clinic in Crookston for people 50 and older and those 12 and older who are immunocompromised. The second booster dose must be administered at least four months after the first booster. Adults who received Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) for their primary vaccine and booster dose at least four months ago may now receive a second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna only.
