If you’re staying around Upstate for July 4 weekend, there’s lots to do in addition to enjoying the lovely Finger Lakes. Head to the New York State Fairgrounds for the annual Carnival Rides and Treats festival and fireworks, which will go on all weekend long. If you’d like something a little less lively, take a drive to Auburn on Sunday night for an Independence Day concert by Symphoria and fireworks on the banks of Owasco Lake. For a trip back in time, grab tickets to “Cabaret” at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca or to the 46th annual renaissance fair in Sterling. There’s also a community basketball tournament in Thornden Park, a blues concert by Mia Borders at 443 Social Club, and more. Happy 4th!
